Responsibilities

If you love taxes and working hard to help clients find the best outcome, you will find a stimulating and welcoming work environment with this role. Our client is looking for a Client Tax Specialist to join their team of ten people. 

You will be responsible for client tax returns and client services such as answering questions and doing research to find answers.

• Prepare individual tax returns and business returns, trust returns (1040, 1041, 1120, 1120-S, 1065)
• Provide excellent customer service to our clients and potential clients
• Do client consultations and conduct seminars (materials and training provided)
• Address client questions about tax matters from a broad understanding of tax law
• Assist clients with responding to notices
• Work with our small business clients and speak their language
• Examine accounting records to produce accurate tax returns

Software & IT environment:

• Proficiency level in Excel
• Highly comfortable with collaborative IT tools to work/communicate with the team

Skills to succeed in this mission

Required

• Previous experience of 10 years in tax preparation and broad tax knowledge
• Understanding of S-Corporations and their tax implications
• Friendly personality and a love of working with people
• Excellent communication skills
• Comfortable meeting and talking to clients and guiding them
• Detail and deadline-oriented
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Desired

• Military taxes, California taxes and Tennessee Business Tax experience a plus
• ProConnect Software experience a plus

Workplace information

Hours per week: Full time during tax season and on a 10 to 20 hours per week schedule during the off season. You need to be available Monday to Thursday or Friday and to be available for team work hours every day from 11am to 2pm Central Time. The rest of the schedule is flexible.

Hourly rate: from $45 to $50 per hour depending on your experience.

Our client offers 401k, paid sick and vacation time to all employees (full or part time) and license reimbursement. A Retention bonus might be offered.
